EcoChurch - Buildings & Land
Members of the team have been asking questions of the churchwardens, administrators, and others to find out what is being done to limit the environmental impact of the church buildings including the church, church hall, office and rectory.
The church is a listed building which limits what can be done to insulate the building. However it does have low energy lighting.
The church hall is double glazed and has some insulation. Users are reminded to switch off lights and take other energy saving steps.
The rectory is a fairly modern building with double glazing, loft insulation and low energy lighting.
Members of the Ecochurch and gardening teams have been working together to start monitoring the wildlife in the churchyard and devise a management plan which takes into account the needs of people while encouraging wildlife. Bees regularly visit the wild flowers which have been left to bloom and a young grass snake has been seen.
