Update from Cambridge City Foodbank

Sadly, the need for foodbanks is increasing and yet there is a growing concern around food donations and ensuring we have enough to go around all of the centres plus the two Fairbite shops.
One of the reasons the food bank thinks the volume of food donations has dipped is due to more and more people doing their weekly shop online post-lockdown.

Therefore, Cambridge City Foodbank is now listed on Bankuet, a website which enables people to make a monetary donation online, selecting their local Foodbank, and the organisation then buys and delivers our most-needed items direct to us. We hope to see the positive impact of this initiative over the next few weeks and months. Alternatively this can be done via the Foodbank website here

All Saints Milton also continues to collect items for the foodbank and these are taken every fortnight by our volunteers. The collection point is in our church porch and is always there so any donations can be dropped off at any time. The foodbank accepts donations of food, drinks, toiletries, nappies, laundry and household cleaning items (they can not accept baby milk, bottled water or alcohol)

Cambridge Foodbank are currently out of stock of – Rice Pudding, Juice/squash, oil, jam, noddles, ‘Pasta ‘n Sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, sugar, salt and pepper, soap.

If anyone is in need of help from the Foodbank they can contact the church as we are able to give vouchers or the foodbank direct on 07772 538628

Lent Course (at Waterbeach)

St John's Waterbeach and All Saints' Landbeach have invited All Saints' Milton friends to join them for their Lent Course this year. Can I please commend this to you, as we have not yet engaged with the 'Living in Love and Faith' materials, and this is a good opportunity for us to do so. It is particularly helpful that Dr Eeva John, Enabling Officer for LLF for the Church of England (and a member of St John's), has kindly agreed to facilitate the first session on 8th march.

This Lent, we are offering the Living in Love and Faith (LLF) course produced by the Church of England. The five session course begins on Tuesday 8th March and concludes on Tuesday 5th April. All sessions are on a Tuesday in the Church, 7.45 - 9.15pm, and I’ll provide details of the course materials and sign up shortly.

The purpose of this course is to enable us as Christian communities in Landbeach and Waterbeach to participate in a process of learning and praying together as part of discerning a way forward in relation to matters of identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage. Dr Eeva John, a member of St John’s, and the Enabling Officer for LLF for the Church of England, has kindly agreed to facilitate the first session on 8th march.

The five sessions are as follows:

Session 1, March 8th. Learning Together: What does it mean to learn together as followers of Jesus Christ?

Session 2 , March 15th Identity: How does our identity in Christ relate to sex and gender?

Session 3, March 22nd Relationships: What kinds of relationships does God call us to?

Session 4, March 29th.  Sex: Where do our bodies and sex fit in to all of this?

Session 5, April 5th.  Life together: How do diversity and difference affect our life together as a church?

This promises to be a great opportunity for active listening and energising discussion, and I look forward to your valued participation.

Please register your planned attendance with Katy Astley (via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)  by 28 February. The accompanying book costs £5; we prefer that payment is made online or using the wave and pay machine. The Treasurer has set up a link here https://pay.sumup.io/b2c/QYFVAMPJ which is the easiest and simplest way to pay.

Please pass cash or cheques (to Waterbeach PCC) to Katy or Paul.

Best wishes,
