We're really pleased the boundary wall is going to be rebuilt. It is an essential retaining wall on the side of the churchyard which has been in a poor state for a number of years. Rebuilding it now will preserve the historic boundary and make it structurally sound. This will avoid the risk of further damage coming to the wall and will support our village church being used as a place of worship and community for many years to come. We also really value the opportunity for different groups to come together, learn skills and benefit through the process of protecting the heritage of our village. 

Rebuilding the wall is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to engage in this rebuild where local businesses and students can come together to preserve the heritage of our grade ll* listed village church.

Latest Updates 

We're making good progress. The damaged section of the wall is all carefully taken down during the initial excavation phase, allowing sound existing bricks to be dismantled, cleaned, and set aside for salvage. These salvaged bricks are stored securely on-site to ensure the wall is reconstructed "like for like" in line with the rebuild requirements

Who's involved in the project 

We're really pleased to be working with C. J. Murfitt Ltd on this build who are experienced in a full range of building and construction works and have been involved in a number of previous projects around Milton. 

A really exciting part of the rebuild plan includes the opportunity for members of the Cambridge Regional College bricklaying course to come and have some hands-on experience working with C. J. Murfitt Ltd on the rebuild. 

We also have enthusiastic members of Cambridge Regional College Media Team who are going to use this project as an opportunity to stretch their media muscles and help us to capture and communicate the rebuild.
